Despite being a professional writer for nearly 20 years , I’d never heard the term “em dash” until recently. I think I need to stay in more! Great piece though!

Thanks! Could be a cultural thing. Do you know them under other names?

Maybe. I know dashes (obvs) but more often call them hyphens, but an em dash was all new to me!

Us Luddites just do our own writing. I'm not a big user of Em Dash so I leave that to my editor.

Problem solved.

I'll let AI and people with lots of time on their hands to figure out how using Em Dash or not signifies AI writing. I find it's often easy enough just by reading the output.

Thanks for another interesting AI diversion...

As—an—AI—user—I—have—come—to—really—like—em—dashes—lately—no—need—for—other—punctuation!

I—wonder—how—AI—detectors—would—rate—this—comment—😐

AI is a damn convenient technology.

Let us enjoy it while our generation can before it becomes too smug! 😁

I love exclamation marks! And M-- is intriguing! Suspenseful and limitless!

It sure is!

I’m not sure though if I should tolerate double hyphens in this comments section 😉

Agreed—they are a lot like commas—in fact—why not simply replace all commas—and other punctuation—with these beauties? 😄
